I would like to write a review regarding Qatar’s Airlines. Even I don’t like to write negative reviews, but this situation was out of order. I always liked this airline, starting from their jets to services, but not in this time.
We were flying in business class on March 14th from Miami- Doha- Baku with our 2 months old baby. After 2.5 hours of flying we got our meals. But in 10-15 minutes stewardess with trembling hands was starting to collect our meals by saying we are going to land…
When I opened a map, I’ve realised that we were flying over the ocean and there is nowhere to land!!!
Then another stewardess (which was looking after our row) started to explain the evacuation plan and politely explained to me how to hold my baby in case of landing on water…
After an hour and a half we had an emergency landing in Boston, where we were given a hotel to stay. They told us to collect our baggage (even we had so many bags with us) and call them next morning to check in for our next flight Boston-Doha!!!! That’s fine….
It was a heavy snowstorm and we had to find a hotel. First we were waiting 4 hours for taxi and then 3 hours for registration at the hotel.
Of course, next morning nobody answered the line, which we were given!!! We arrived at the airport at around 3 o’clock and saw a huge queue to flight Boston-Doha. I would like to notice once more, that we had business class tickets, but when I’ve asked for new tickets on the evening flight, they replied to me that there are no spaces, in a rude tone, and instead we can fly to London-Frankfurt-Baku!!!
After complaining, I decided to take this better chance rather than staying in cold Boston!
We were queuing up from 16:00 till 20:00 to get tickets Boston-London-Frankfurt-Baku by British Airways. I would like to mark, that flights Boston-Doha and Boston-London were taking off at the same time!
We were also told that we will have an hour interval between our transit flights in London and it will be ample to get our flights’ connections, plus they will supply us with airport assistance. But when I’ve asked the same question at boarding, I was told that flight Frankfurt-Baku will take off one hour before our flight Boston-London will land, and at this time I’ve exploded (I lost all my patience)!!! They even couldn’t give us the correct tickets!!!
All Qatar’s personnel in Boston didn’t care when they gave us the wrong tickets, because just to get rid of us!!! They just sat and watched how new-born baby was crying, and didn’t move their fingers to help us….
Afterwards, when there were no passengers in business class on flight Boston-Doha, they called us saying that we have accidently some spare sits available….. Accidently? How? Because they were holding these sits to sell…. I have no words, just aggression. Thanks God that this flight was pleasant and tired baby was sleeping all the way through.
I would like to say how disappointed I am by this airline; even I am their frequent flyer to many destinations…. But after this incident, nor me or my family, will use this airline ever again. Instead, I am working at tourism, I won’t recommend this airline to anyone, but instead will suggest to people not to use them as they don’t act professionally in emergency situations; starting from rude personnel in Boston (who said at the end just “Sorry guys….”) to personnel on board (when business class stewardess was panicking, crying and shaking, which gave a clear message to everybody that we will crash). My husband was sitting in the front row and he saw how one of the stewardess’ was praying every time the plane was shaking. The situation of emergency landing also wasn’t explained to us as well as nobody paid attention to the loose window.
To compensate our taxi money (200$ to hotel and back to the airport) and other expenses, they told us to collect it from their Baku office, but I don’t believe so!!!
Even Qatar’s Airlines are at top three best world airlines, they have so many areas to improve upon: starting from providing regular trainings for their flight personnel in case of emergency landing to their airport personnel (from cashier to managers) to be polite and nice to passengers.
I also would like to add, that we had 8 big boxes 32 kg each, which we were asking to leave at the airport, but were told that nobody can look after them. My husband was carrying these heavy boxes by himself, when Qatar was doing one mistake after another one. On the day of our flight, they allowed us to keep the boxes at the airport when we stayed at the hotel in Boston if we will cover all of the expenses. But why we couldn’t leave the boxes night before, nobody could explain.
When we arrived at Baku, we realised that half of the baggage was left in Boston and it was sent to us on the next day. All the boxes were torn by customs, but nobody even checked our baggage in Miami!
